A new opportunity has arisen for a Business Intelligence Developer to join us on a contract to be based in Melbourne CBD. At AGL we are always working to be innovative and ahead of the game for our customers. Join the team dedicated to delivering exciting and innovative customer technology. This role is for an initial duration of six months with a potential to extend.


Key purpose of this team
The Product Management team develop and own the strategic plan of technology initiatives for Wholesale Markets. The team functions as the primary interface between Future Business and Technology and Wholesale Markets to ensure delivery of initiatives in accordance with business requirements.
We are currently looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to play a prominent role in the shaping and execution of Wholesale Markets’ analytics and visualisation initiatives. Working closely with Product Managers, Product Owners and Business SMEs you will be responsible for helping to


- Optimising the Wholesale Market’s data landscape through consolidation of data sources, providing easy access to data.
- Enabling the business to make data led decisions through the provision of trusted and meaningful analysis
- Develop a capability within Wholesale Markets to better-understand decision-making requirements, evaluate the current suite of reports being generated, consolidate / enhance existing data sets, automate reports to reduce cycle times, visualise critical information though the creation of high-quality reports and dashboards.

Key accountabilities of this role
- Working closely with Business SME’s and Analysts to rapidly prototype our suite of Position, Profit & Loss and Earnings at Risk reporting across our commodities and exposures
- Design and implement a standardised reporting template across all our commodities
- Partnering with our Product Owners to accelerate the prototype to production process via documenting the data sources and business logic
- Consulting and advising business stakeholders on the best-practice data visualisation design to achieve their specific needs
- Assisting in the development and visualisation of our project Benefits Action Plans

You will have
- Proven experience in an analytical role or equivalent, and strong experience in development of BI reports and dashboards
- Hands-on experience in Tableau along with the ability and passion to understand new technologies quickly
- Experience gathering requirements, conducting impact assessments, and the ability to translate requirements to meaningful and actionable insights
- Ability to identify opportunities to automate processes
- Strong appreciation of approaches to effective data visualisation
- Embrace new styles of working, and show a willingness to adopt agile approaches both independently, and as part of an agile team
- Proactive approach to managing pipeline deliverables and effectively managing stakeholders
- Ability to manage a multitude of concurrent tasks, and prioritise
- Excellent all-round communication and interpersonal skills
