Due to this strategy a brand-new role has been created for a high-profile Data Scientist.ABOUT THE ROLE:Reporting to an entrepreneurial and highly influential Head of Growth Insights, this Data Scientist is a highly visible and crucial role. The successful candidate will become the architect of the organisation's Data Insights Strategy and beresponsible for developing the data dictionary, and hierarchy across all functions within the business. This is a critical role to assist in driving the business through its aggressive hyper-growth ‘expansion phase’ through the building of strong foundations supported with a strong process and machine learning framework.Critical to the role will be developing a “Vision” for superior service in data insights and analytics. This will involve driving automation and transformation. The key success factor will be your ability to engage with the key leaders in the business including the CEO and Founders.This role not only requires an excellent technical and analytical mind but also someone that can think outside of the box and not be afraid to challenge the status quo.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Reporting to a high performing Head of Growth Insights and working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, your key responsibilities will include:Strategic:Solve business problems through interpreting data (including identification of patterns and trends) with minimal to no supervision;
Identify targeted audiences and map their journey to optimize marketing communications for digital lead generation and one-to-one marketing/ business development;
Effectively communicate insights to a non-technical audience;
Technical:Collect data from a variety of databases and Excel files and utilise your toolset in regular expressions to extract information from un-structured text documents and the web;
Handle missing data through an algorithmic approach such as multiple imputations to enable insights in sparse and messy data;
Apply various techniques to effectively analyse data, build statistical models and design experiments by using large and complex datasets including ability to design and develop bespoke algorithms from the ground up;
Utilise your algorithmic/programming toolkit to build predictive models to drive acquisition, engagement and retention and improve growth and profitability, and other such key performance indicators for our business;
Implement formal modelling processes from end to end including data gathering, data profiling, numerical model building, calibration, cross-validation, putting product into production, etc;
Develop a portfolio of test and learn programs;
Support the maintenance and development of web analytics platforms;
Develop simple dashboards and reports for distribution to a non-technical audience;
Establish and maintain expert knowledge of the latest methodological innovations in marketing mix modelling.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:You have 2-4 years experience in a data scientist position. You are qualified in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or Statistics. Beyond a high performance and outstanding career profile, you have a burning desire for supporting growth through effective business partnering and data analytics support. You have proven experience in business engagement on data science projects, have strong presentation skills and business acumen and be comfortable partnering with different stakeholders.You are now looking to fast track your career in a hyper growth, fast paced Data Scientist role by proving yourself in a high performing e-commerce tech organisation where you will have full autonomy of the data science function for the business. This position will provide excellent career opportunities and accelerate your growth within 3 years to be ready for a true Head of Growth Insights position.In addition, you will have experience:Manipulating large datasets leveraging Big Query / Fivetran / Tableau;
Data exploration (e.g. SQL, Pig, Hive);
Data analysis (e.g. R, SAS, Python);
Solving business problems by applying analysis, data mining and modelling (e.g. machine learning, Natural Language Processing);
Data visualisation of complex relationships;
NoSQL databases (e.g. HBASE, Cassandra, MongoDB, etc);
Programming / coding in R, Python, Ruby or Scala.
