Product Manager for Deal Enablement and Escalations
Cisco Systems, Inc. is an American multinational technology conglomerate headquartered in San Jose, California, in the center of Silicon Valley, that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products.
The team you’ll be joining is the Cisco NGFW Firestarter Product Management Team, which is part of Cisco’s Security Business Group. In Firestarter, we focus on enabling short term revenue by working with sales to remove obstacles in deals. We’re driven, on point, tenacious and relentless. It’s a unique opportunity to work with a world-class team in a fast-growing entrepreneurial environment, while leveraging one of the largest portfolios of security technologies to create and deliver new offerings. This position is based in APJ theater.
You and the Role
Have you ever been characterized as too pushy, too aggressive a product manager or an SE? If you smiled and nodded to that, this may be a job for you. Your first concern is winning deals and bringing in revenue. You are technical in nature (background in sales engineering or support is no drawback), and known as a problem solver and solution finder. You not only listen well, you cut through and understand the problems. In your current role, you helped save many a deal through creative thinking, transparent communication, relentless hustle, and precise guidance to engineering and sales alike. You don’t believe in unsolvable problems, and where others say “it can’t be done” you say “let me figure out what we can do”. What makes you a true product management superhero in this role is your keen sense for making business happen. You couple technical hacking with commercial hacking, figuring out discounts, purchase plans, interim solutions; always looking at your topline and your bottom line. You really believe in data driven decision making, and are passionately digging for reference points when you need to make a decision. You are a confident, excellent communicator, and are comfortable in high stakes situations.
This role is fantastic for a seasoned negotiator, tenacious product manager looking to put business and revenue impact on his or her resume. You will live where the rubber meets the road: between the sales and engineering, with direct access to customers. You will communicate in feature business cases, keep a well ordered stackranked backlog, and build a track record of delivering super targeted well defined features that directly impact deals.
