Forensic Custody Nurse / Paramedic - Preceptorship (Loddon Valley)
Mountain Healthcare Limited is pleased to offer our exciting new preceptorship, for passionate healthcare professionals based in the Thames Valley region.
We believe we can offer a specialist two-year programme of development that will provide you with invaluable skills and experience to become an advance forensic healthcare practitioner (NMC or HCPC Registration will be required).
As a Forensic Custody Healthcare Professional, you will learn through clinical placements, blended learning and receive further personal support with an allocated mentor. We will identify an in individualised programme of education and exposure to clinical environments, providing opportunities for examinations, in addition to financial support whilst undertaking the research post.
The role will involve conducting clinical assessments, identifying and implementing appropriate interventions, collecting forensic samples, providing advice and guidance and maintaining detailed and accurate records to ensure the health, safety and welfare of detained persons held in police custody. You will also attend cases in the community, hospitals, homes and other locations which may include confirmation of deaths and intimate searches.
For this role you must be either a Registered General Nurse or a Registered Paramedic, with ideally one year of post qualification experience.
The preceptorship post is paid at £28,000 per annum (as a starting salary) for the two-year post. Following this programme, the successful candidate will be subject to yearly pay increments for the following 4 years (rising to a total of approx. £39,000).
The role will require autonomous practice and complex decision making. We expect by the end of the programme you will be confident in managing medical emergencies as Novel Psychoactive Substances and acute presentations have impacted on our workload. We expect a lot from you however we promise to support your development with training opportunities, provide supervision and mentoring, always have senior clinical advice available remotely and we listen!
Successful applicants will ideally live within easy reach of Banbury custody suite and have access to transport for additional travel if required.
