The role of Head of Casualty and Specialty Claims provides a unique opportunity to take responsibility for the overall operational, technical and financial performance of Zurich's long tail General Insurance Claims operations in Australia and New Zealand.  The role is responsible for claims functions of the following lines of business - Liability, Financial Lines, Marine, Accident & Health (including Travel), and Workers Compensation.  This also includes oversight of Travel claims managed by Covermore.
 
Reporting to the Chief Claims Officer, you will be working closely with the Claims Senior Leadership Team, Governance and Shared Services functions, LOB Underwriting and Portfolio Managers, Claims Performance Management, Claims Transformation and both APAC and Group stakeholders.
 
In the Head of Casualty and Specialty Claims role you will also have responsibility for customer service delivery to insureds and brokers, oversight of attritional claim cost and large losses, ensure that complex and severity claims and catastrophe events are managed, escalated, tracked and reported according to guidelines, identify performance challenges, design, implement and deliver on solutions to continuously improve claims performance, and be responsible for FTE and budget management including driving operational efficiencies.
 
You will be expected to bring extensive General Insurance experience across multiple lines of business including Casualty and Specialty, and strong demonstrable management and operational experience of overseeing people managers and/or multiple lines of business,  coupled with strong working knowledge of General Insurance Claims, Underwriting and Reinsurance.
 
Additionally, you will have demonstrated capabilities in the technical management aspects of all relevant classes of insurance, operational and financial management, and ability to apply a strategic understanding of market dynamics within the Australian and New Zealand insurance industry so as to enhance Zurich’s competitive position.
