About the role

Diverse exposure to remote nursing, emergency treatment, injury management and return to work and workforce health surveillance
As a Registered Nurse at our Northern Operations, your primary role is to ensure the health and wellbeing of our members of our community and workforce, through the treatment of injuries and illnesses and execution of injury management and health surveillance processes.
This role is located in the town of Leinster, which is has approximately 500 residents and 700 fly-in-fly-out personnel. This role is based between the Leinster town Medical Centre and the Leinster Nickel Operation.
Reporting to the Health Supervisor – Northern Operations, your key responsibilities will include:
Providing care as a Remote Area Nurse to the community in the Town of Leinster, at times as the sole practitioner
Providing Occupational Health services for mine site injuries and illnesses, supported (where necessary) by onsite Emergency Services personnel and external (telehealth) health care providers
Execution of injury management and return to work programs, including involvement in workers compensation processes
Executing site health surveillance processes
Participating in Fitness for Work Programs (drug and alcohol testing)
Delivering and continuously improving the quality of reporting of health information
Maintaining core medical centre processes relating to equipment calibrations, dispensing medications and general medical consumable stock management; and
After hours on-call (whilst on roster) is a requirement of this position.

This role exists within a two person Health Specialist team, existing on a back-to-back 7/7 roster. This role is supported by a GP and Practice Nurse on a part time (Tues – Thurs) basis.
About You

We anticipate that you will be a suitably qualified Health Professional, possessing relevant experience in a similar role at a remote location. The (at times) independent nature of this role requires a high level of medical competency and decisive decision making.

To be successful in this role you will require:

Essential Qualifications:
Qualifications and experience as a Registered Nurse - current registration with AHPRA
Demonstrated practical experience in Remote Area Nursing
Experience in emergency, pediatrics and ante-natal care
Demonstrated commitment to safe work behaviors
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently, as a sole-practitioner, for extended periods
Excellent, demonstrable clinical skills
Cost management and stock control skills
Working knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and codes of practice
You will also have excellent organization skills and the ability to manage regular commitments and priorities as well as the ad hoc demands that occur in a fast paced
