We are offering an exciting traineeship for Indigenous Trainee Emergency Services Officers (ESO) to join the Western Australian Iron Ore HSE team. This is an amazing opportunity for candidates to develop and achieve whilst being supported by an engaged leadership team as well as work in a culture of care. You will be assigned a mentor to provide the support to allow you to reach your goals. Successful completion of the Trainee Program will culminate in you completing a nationally accredited Certificate IV Health along with a Certificate lll in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue. 
These Trainee ESO roles will be flexible with options to do fly-in, fly-out or residential from Newman or Port Hedland.

Main responsibilities:
Participate in the WAIO Security and Emergency Services Trainee Program and be provided the opportunity to complete the relevant training modules as required in the role outlined in the Trainee ESO Log-book.
The role is flexible to the right candidate, therefore the timeframe of completion of the trainee role modules would consider your existing training, personal and cultural needs and therefore may take up to 2 years or more for full completion;
You will have the opportunity to work in a “World Class” Emergency Services team supporting our Western Australian Iron Ore Operations.
You will have the opportunity to learn and apply the Service Delivery requirements as per the role which may include Medical and Emergency Response, Hearing and Respiratory Fit Testing, Drug and Alcohol Testing, Field Leadership, Site Access, Security and other ad hoc items as per your log-book and learning modules.
You will have a clear development plan which is representative of your development needs, as well as Key Performance Indicators linked to your development and behaviors, and have one-on-one meetings with your Leader to review and assess you are successful in meeting the program objectives.
You will be provided a mentor to support you through the traineeship.
You will learn and apply the BHP Charter Values through your interactions with team members and customers on a daily basis.
About You

This role is open to Indigenous candidates only
Hold a current and valid WA “C” class manual drivers licence
We can be Flexible for the right candidate, roster can be designed to meet your needs in conjunction with business needs.
No prior experience is required as this is a Trainee position, you just need the right attitude and behaviours consistent with Our Charter, and belief in yourself.
Ability and commitment to attend the training institutions required to achieve the certificates required for the trainee role. 
IT literacy, including MS office would be desirable.
Demonstrated verbal and written English language proficiency is required.
Ability to obtain Police Clearance and obtain an MSIC Card at the Port Hedland Port Authority is required.
Communication and interpersonal skills is desired as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment

Travel
The role is site based, however you may need to travel for Training or Internal Meetings as required; 
The role will be either Fly In Fly Out, Drive In/Drive Out (to local Mines/Rail or Port Facilities) or Residential (residential options are Newman or Port Hedland).
