About the role

As the Lead Planning & Scheduling in our Project Service group you will manage, provide leadership, and ensure oversight & governance for the Planners and Schedulers within the Asset Projects department which is responsible for delivering a diverse portfolio of capital projects.  The teams’ responsibilities include the development and baselining of agreed project plans, maintenance of the schedules, progress reporting and forecasting the projects’ milestones, monitoring impact of changes and mitigating risk through corrective and preventative actions that ultimately influence on-time delivery of the project’s objectives.

In this role you will:
Act as a Subject Matter Expert for the planning & scheduling function, providing practical and pragmatic advice;
Ensure consistent processes, standards and practices are maintained for planning & scheduling across the Assets portfolio of projects in line with the Minerals Australia Planning Team approach;
Provide overarching assurance and governance of quality, consistence and compliance of planning & scheduling deliverables from both our contractor and our owners team;
Proactively review individual project progress and comparison against the project baseline across the portfolio and provide pragmatic advice to assist in mitigation of progress slippage;
Facilitate schedule risk analysis workshops to determine schedule contingency which is aligned to the projects risk register;
Provides strategic guidance to Project Teams for the efficient planning and delivery of projects;
Maintain effective change management discipline on all projects;
Review, analyse, distil and clearly articulate project, program or portfolio schedule information for the presentation to senior executives;
Lead in the identification and implementation of planning & scheduling improvement initiatives, and offer expertise as input to value improvement practices;
Drive the integration of contractor plans and schedules into the overall project program and schedule;
Lead the development and maintenance of standards and practices for planning & scheduling across the Asset’s portfolio of projects, in conjunction with your peers from around Australia;
Attend site periodically to build relationships with site based teams and clearly understand the projects being planned and executed;
Lead, coach, and mentor team members to ensure successful delivery against individual and project performance targets;
Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching your team.
About You

Degree qualified in Engineering, Mining, Construction or a related field or Trade;
Experience working as a Planner and/or Scheduler across a large diverse portfolio of capital brownfield and greenfield projects from heavy industry, infrastructure, construction or resources/mining industry;
Detailed understanding of project management systems and techniques;
Ability to influence, engage with and communicate effectively across multiple business units and functional areas;
Expertise in key planning and scheduling tools, including Primavera P6, Risk Analysis, Acumen Fuse, etc.;
Experience in leading, coaching and developing a team;
Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
