BHP is establishing Operations Services – a new team of employees who will provide production and maintenance services that have previously been performed by external contractors.
We are investing in our team to take your skills and career to places you never thought possible. This is an exciting time for BHP. Are you ready to make your place?
About the role
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead the Operations Services Field Maintenance Department (Minerals Australia) to ensure the planning and safe execution of maintenance activities on field equipment (including shutdowns) to optimise primary drivers such as outage durations and overall fleet availability.
As an effective leader, you will be charged to lead organisational change through high performance delivery teams deployed across Minerals Australia. These teams will be underpinned by a focus on people development, value alignment and building capability. You will lead the Field Maintenance Department to operate in a climate of continuous improvement, being accountable and ensuring that all work is aligned with business critical success factors.
In this role, you will cultivate strong relationships through effective communication and consultation, positively influencing the Field Maintenance department and shape the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to work.
A key leadership role within Operations Services, managing a national portfolio, the Field Maintenance Manager will successfully lead the team in:
Ensuring a safe system of work to protect the health and safety of people and the environment in accordance with Statutory BHP requirements
Ensuring an engaged culture, inclusive and diverse culture, where everyone is motivated to their full potential
Managing performance targets and plans aligned to the Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) processes
Improve productivity and disciplined application of the BHP Operating Model, and its standards, processes and systems.
You will be a forward-thinking leader with a strong focus on safety, inclusion and diversity, productivity and maximising the benefit of technology. Your solid understanding of maintenance and engineering practices will be supported by relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in delivering outstanding results in asset maintenance. Experience with field equipment is strongly preferred but not essential.
Previous experience in leading and mentoring multi-disciplinary diverse teams through effective communication coupled with strong operational discipline is required for the success of this role. A deliberate and evident career focus on enabling high performance frontline execution teams is critical, as is the capability to manage senior level stakeholders within the broader organisation.
With exposure to asset management principles, notably overall equipment effectiveness and a strong understanding of maintenance system processes, you will be confident in working through change management in a complex environment.
A performance and achievement orientated professional, your technical strengths will be complemented by excellent engagement and communication skills, high energy levels, and an action oriented attitude tempered by simplicity. An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment and sustainable development is a must.
