About the role


- Level A: $95,449 to 102,091 per annum (+17% super and leave loading)
- Fixed term (36 months) starting in March 2020
- Full-time


UNSW Canberra has 2 positions for Research Associates in Capability Systems. These new roles will be in the Capability Systems Centre (CSC) at UNSW Canberrawhich is a centre of research excellence focused ondisciplines related to the development, acquisitionand sustainment of capability throughout the lifecycle; including systems engineering, systemsthinking and modelling, systems science,requirements engineering, complex systems and project management.


You will be joining an established and supportive team to undertake research (fundamental & applied) in the multidisciplinary area of modelling and simulation. You will develop your research to be published in peer reviewed journals and conferences as well as having the opportunity to assist in sessional teaching activities.


About the successful applicant


To be successful in this role you will need to have:


- A PhD, or close to completion, in computer science, systems science / dynamics / modelling, systems engineering, or related applied discipline
- Demonstrated experience in mathematical and statistical modelling including experience in writing computer code to develop optimization algorithms and undertake statistical analysis of complex datasets
- Demonstrated ability to use and apply systems modelling approaches, in particular system dynamics, agent based modelling and discrete-event simulation, effectively to address complex problem solving in real life situations (Experience with hybrid-modelling approaches and coupled simulation-optimization frameworks will be an advantage)
- Excellent communications for both writing publications and verbal communications for effective interactions with team members
