The Kirby Institute is seeking to appoint a Senior Research Officer within The Therapeutic and Vaccine Research Program (TVRP). TVRP conducts clinical studies across a range of infectious and immunologic diseases, including infection-related cancers, with a focus on therapies for HIV and its complications including cardiovascular disease and cancer.
As a Research officer you will oversee the development of trial protocols and supporting documents; review literature and relevant databases (such as clinicaltrials.gov) to identify published and ongoing studies in areas relevant to trials under development; coordinate funding applications, inter-institutional agreements, and submissions for ethical and regulatory review; develop project budgets and forecasts and monitor expenditure; Evaluate prospective trial sites and standard operating procedures across TVRP and its collaborators, plus ensure studies conducted by TVRP follow Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP) requirements.
You will need a post-graduate biomedical science qualifications in a relevant area such as infectious diseases, immunology or oncology; substantial experience in conducting clinical research, development of clinical trial protocols and clinical trial set up; management of clinical trial data and research specimens as well as development of standard operating procedures for clinical trials; experience in conducting literature searches and writing competitive grant applications is also required for this position.
The position may involve travelling locally, interstate or overseas as required.
