About the role

The Training team is a newly formed function within the Olympic Dam Integrated Operations team who are at the forefront of defining, influencing and delivering an enhanced safety experience to embed our safety ‘culture of care’.The strategy will be supported by effective training design and delivery of Safety Training to BHP employees and contractors to uplift the capability, improve safety culture and ensure everyone who works at Olympic Dam has the information and context required to complete their roles effectively and in a safe and sustainable manner.In this role you will:
- Be first and foremost focused on creating a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing and coaching teams
- Deliver safety and risk training courses across site, Adelaide and nationally
- Be accountable for planning, preparation and execution for all BHP internal safety training for staff and contracting partners
- Facilitating the delivery of all site wide training, including shutdowns
- Assess competency and capability of attendee's within training courses and on-the-job training
- Review and implement feedback on training provided
- Develop and ensure continuous improvement to training content and packages aligned with changes to standards and procedures
- Complete administration and record keeping on attendance and assessments for training, including training compliance reporting
- Contribute to the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives

About You

- Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
- Formal qualifications in Training & Assessment (essential)
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (desirable)
- Passion and commitment to influence, engage and drive positive safety culture
- Solid knowledge of operating and production environments within mining, heavy industry or mineral processing environments
- Experience facilitating training to diverse groups
- Knowledge of training, standards and safety legislation in Australia and specifically South Australia
- Experience developing safety training content and packages advantageous
- Well-developed communication skills with an interest in providing exceptional outcomes that benefit individuals and the business
- Attention to detail and a commitment to deliver quality outcomes
