  • Candidate Chemical Engineer

    I worked/work full time as a candidate engineer at ArcelorMittal Saldanha the Midrex reduction plant, Saldanha (current) as well as the Water Treatment Plant, Saldanha (6 months in 2018). During this time I was involved in daily and long-term process optimisation and fault finding. My biggest project management project was the adsorbent replacement for a CO2 removal system (VPSA). I was a team member for other capital projects as a technical input for projects such as alternative energy consumption in the Midrex, heater upgrades and shaft refractories. During this time I was appointed as the FPS confined space co-coordinator (Level 5 achieved) as well as the hazardous chemical substance coordinator for the Midrex. I was also involved in the start up of a new treated sewage water section as well as ISO audits at the water treatment plant.
