Experience

  • Legal Trainee

    at Emirates Airline

    October 2018 - December 2018

    Dubayy

I was based in the newly formed Data Privacy Office where I helped the implementation of the new regulation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) which gave me an insight into the effect of new regulations on compliance procedures of an international business’ operations. To help ensure compliance across all departments, some of my tasks included drafting legal documents including Employee Medical Insurance Terms and Conditions on the handing of personal data, the Recruitment Privacy Policy, and assessing Dubai's Airport new facial recognition security check-in technology. This cross-disciplinary work advanced my ability to work collaboratively within a team and also refined my legal writing skills. I was also involvement with Aircraft Finance projects where I got the chance to prepare documentation including drafting Aircraft Certificates of Registration to be submitted to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority.

  • Intern

    at Holman Fenwick Willan

    October 2018 - October 2018

    Dubayy

Whilst interning at HFW, I worked alongside a partner and an associate within the Aerospace Department on an upcoming conference on the commercial use of drones through researching and writing the conference documents and handouts. This project heightened my understanding of a dynamic market and the factors that enable projects to come to fruition. In addition, I was also able to familiarise myself with Aviation Liability claims through critically analysing cases and drafting letters of advice to clients advising them on their legal position and merits. Lastly, I was able to utilise my Arabic speaking and writing skills through reading and translating supporting case documents, legal advice, and court proceedings to a non-Arabic speaking associate. I was also proofreading contract agreements which enhanced my awareness on the importance of paying attention to little but critical detail.

  • Intern

    at OTS Solicitors

    June 2017 - July 2017

    London

I was exposed to diverse areas of law through interning at an Immigration Law Law and was able to develop transferable skills that are crucial within the legal profession. My experience was particularly invaluable in the significant level of client interaction that I was exposed to. I was regularly the first point of contact for clients prior to meetings alongside the lawyer handing the case and responsible for taking minutes that included summarising each client’s main points. I regularly reviewed case summaries and supporting documents and researched around each client’s issue to draft letters of advice that were later reviewed by each lawyer working on the case. Whilst working on each case, I learnt to be analytical and approach issues in a logical way to consequently construct a viable solution tailored to each client’s case.
