Job Overview The position is with SIP (system in package) group within the Division of Qualcomm Technologies. The position offers the candidate a chance to design next generation of wireless products that would shape the future of wireless industry. A successful candidate will work with a highly motivated team to conduct board-level PCB design, schematic capture, debug, and test SIPs. He/She will be responsible for a particular part of a complex system and work with the rest of the team to meet product design goals and specifications. ***Mandatory: English and Portuguese language proficiency*** Responsibilities:
Work on advanced RF front-end modules, RF verification design for cellular/wireless applications. QSIP RF Engineer will be responsible to ensure RF characterization on SIP module level, by verifying the system design in a package architecture. Qualcomm solutions include highly customized LNAs, PAs, FEMs, antenna tuner and multi-throw switches in standalone and module packages for 4G and 5G wireless cell phone and ultra-mobile devices.
The RF SiP Design Engineer will deliver RF Front-End Module validation designs in a fast-paced environment, and is required to work closely with IC design engineers to optimize a module design by extensive co-simulation and co-design verification based on RF system knowledge. Module impedance matching (board tuning) - unmolded and DVT - Design Verification Test -Lab setup for test execution and results analysis for re-design process.
RF Hardware Engineers will support all aspects of RF design and project planning for wireless voice and data communications devices. Provide radio design including RF system analysis, RX/TX architecture, filter requirements/design, detailed hardware design, PCB layout supervision, and component selection. Applicant can expect to support a range of project requirements, R&D programs, and work in a multi-discipline environment.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
2+ years Hardware Engineering experience or related work experience.
We are looking for candidates that have experience in the design, development, and testing of the RF/analog circuitry for complex digital communications systems.
Candidates must have familiarity of wireless standards and a background in the design and test of wireless products and circuitry including: CDMA, WCDMA, GSM, and LTE receivers, transmitters, and synthesizers.
Knowledge of GPS Receivers and Bluetooth, WiFi transceivers considered a plus.
Should have experience in PA, LNA, RF filters, Duplexers, Diplexers, RF switches, multi-chip module designs, matching networks for integrated front end modules and RF layout techniques using multi-layered FR4 pwb material and SMD components.
Knowledge of circuit simulation CAE tools such as ADS, MW Office, Genesys, etc. and 3D EM tools such as CST, Sonnet, HFSS, etc. Strong understanding of RF concepts such as impedance matching, passive circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth, stability, intermodulation.
Necessary skills in RF debug, tuning and product characterization using job related laboratory equipment.
Must be a self-starter who is capable of working independently.
