2007 was the 50th Anniversary of the Harley Davidson Sportster. Unfortunately - they only commemorated the occasion with a stick-on badge, they failed to create a tribute model (in the way VW brought back the Beetle). So here is my rendition on a new Harley Davidson 883R purchased in 2007. Using Genuine Harley Davidson Parts and Accessories (except the exhaust & intake) - but dressed in a darker, more sinister trim; what Harley would later coin as 'Dark Custom'. I wanted the look of the original, but with today's reliability and technology.
I changed the tank, the wheels, reworked the front end, had the bike painted in Mirage Orange with iconic Black belt line trim, dropped the passenger seat, and added my touches throughout. Including performance engine mods and up grades- it was a fast way to spend $15,ooo on an 'entry-level' bike.
