Soviet Era Wheels : The Trabant The Soviet-era East German answer to the Volkswagon : a steel frame encased in a cloth / resin body panels. The car was joked that it was woven, but the process is more mechanized and standardized than fiberglass examples of the era. Styled as a VW knock off it was the most plentiful Soviet ride, but the quality was abysmal, you almost had to buy two to keep yourself in parts. The motor was anemic, having had the chance to ride in one, I really think the French 2CV would out perform it. A tip of the hat to Trabant or the Trabby as it was called often enough. I still see them on the road in Ukraine today.
