Car Porn - Chop Top Customs Pt. 1
The custom trend of 'Chopping' the roof - lowering the overall height and profile of the roof started out where horsepower, weight and aerodynamics meet in a high speed pursuit of Land Speed Records. The Bonneville Salt Flats is said to the the home to the innovation of dropping the roof. One of the most famous salt runners from the day was the So-Cal 34 Ford Coupe. It featured a heavily modified chopped roof and a more aerodynamic 'Track T' front end. The fenders were stripped and all creature comforts were removed, as they were dead weight. It is paired next to the same model as delivered direct from Ford for comparison.
