USMC Leadership JUSTICE Justice: There are rules and regulations everywhere in the military; there are thick and fat manuals about rights, responsibilities and punishments for failures. The core element of personal justice is pivotal where things happen in the heat of battle, away from those books. You need to command a sense of direct behavior that first and foremost, lead by example - you cannot expect your troops to 'Do as I say, Not as I do' - while you are doing the exact thing. The hypocrisy will not will be well tolerated. To encourage, motivate, and enforce a sense of discipline, you must firmly be dedicated with a watchful eye to things that stray out of the Code of Conduct; and to address them, directly & swiftly. You can not have favorites, cannot turn a blind eye to infractions - justice is both a nudge and hammer; be mindful how you apply them.
