    The first time I saw a mobile phone in Australia was in the mid 1980's. It was much bigger than the one in the picture above. It also required a battery pack which was the size and weight of a then standard house brick!

    Hey, I had one of those. @Melissa Gorin, you didn't mention that it also cost $50 a month for access, plus 1.75 per minute charged in 1 minute increments. That was cheap considering my car phone used to be $4.75 a minute after a $2000 install (Company paid thank God)

    Thanks @MelissaGorin for sharing. Great example of how much technology has changed in 30 years. I can't even imagine leaving home without my cell . . .and 10 hours to charge would kill me.
