Cinematic Designer

A Cinematic Designer is responsible for the initial setup and creation of scenes within a game through collaboration with the Cinematic Director, animation and level design teams. The ideal candidate should have a strong sense of how gameplay and cinematics work together to tell a cohesive story, a good understanding of base gameplay pacing and mechanics as well as a good sense of cinematography.
 
Type of position: Permanent, full-time.
 
Responsibilities:
 
The main and routine tasks of the Cinematic Designer are to:
Communicate and work closely with the Cinematic Director and Level Designers to translate scripted scenes into cinematics and to balance story with gameplay;
Create in-game previz to help realize direction;
Follow and maintain pipelines and technical requirements;
Balance quality with efficiency when working under tight deadlines;
Validate the cinematics to ensure that the integrations did not cause any conflicts with the rest of the game;
Share knowledge and collaborate with technical Leads in order to improve the quality of the tools;
Perform any other related tasks. 
 
Training: 
College Diploma/Degree in cinema, animation, video game development or related field, or equivalent experience.
 
Experience: 
Minimum 3+ years’ of experience working in the video games or films industry as a Layout Artist, Animator, Camera Artist, Designer, or any other similar job;
Experience with character and camera animation in 3D software (an asset);
Good knowledge of cinematography and acting;
Experience in game engine/editors;
Basic understanding of narrative causality and logic;
Quick to adapt to company proprietary software.

Excellent communication skills and abilities to work efficiently within a team;
Ability to work with people from other fields of expertise;
Well Organized;
Aware of new technologies and processes related to the industry.
