In this role, you will provide key input into future infrastructure strategy, identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities, review and approve operational changes, and manage capacity and performance of both private and public cloud services!

You will use your expertise to:

- Provide leadership to our outsourced (off-shore) team to deliver private and public cloud services and cloud management platform based on outcome-based services, agreed to quality measures, reliability metrics, and service levels
- Oversee reliability, availability and performance of cloud computing technologies, and maintain ownership of all workloads hosted in the private and public cloud based services
- Ensure that negotiated service level agreements and metrics are handled and met
- Manage cloud infrastructure meetings, security, audits, and industry compliance, as well as operational monitoring of policy and process compliance
- Provide input to ongoing operational spending (capital, expense, and consumption based), annual budget development, and cost centre financial stewardship
- Handle and approve changes to our infrastructure environment, minimizing risk and operational impacts, and ensure that we mitigate and understand cross-functional impacts to other infrastructure components
- Build and grow positive relationships with other operational teams, strategic vendor partners, and broader D&ET teams
- Participate in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices, such as incident, problem, change, asset, configuration, and service requests

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

- Five years of infrastructure operational leadership experience, with specific experience in an outsourced organization
- Experience and knowledge of ITIL practices
- A Bachelor's degree or a technical college diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science
- Comprehensive knowledge of private and public cloud based services and cloud management platform
- A deep technical knowledge of infrastructure operations and experience with large enterprise size cloud computing, converged/consumption based systems, and operational automation and management
- The ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) to a wide variety of audiences including multi-functional teams at all levels
- Well-developed social skills with an ability to build and maintain positive business relationships
- The ability to deal with confrontational situations in a positive manner with strong influencing, persuasion, negotiation, and resolution skills
- Alignment with our values

Preference for:

- Experience with transitioning and operating infrastructure from on premise to in-cloud services
- Experience in the oil and gas industry
- An ITIL Foundation certification

Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:

- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the ability to be “on-call” 24/7 to support operational incidents and service level commitments
- You may be required to travel within North America and Europe
