Co-op SummerTerm Hiring for 4 months (September to December 2019)

Co-op: IPD Hardware Support Engineer

IPD Hardware Engineering defines, designs, builds and supports hardware solutions for Nokia's SAR, SR, XRS, SR-S, and IXR IP Routing platforms. As a Coop student you will gain practical hands-on experience by working with an experienced and highly motivated team in a lab environment to ensure the successful delivery of new products. You will be performing a wide of tasks including the following:
Hardware verification including high speed signal integrity analysis on the latest prototype H/W designs using a variety of state-of-the-art test gear, (20 GHz oscilloscopes, network analyzers, telecom interface test platforms).
Ensure H/W performs up to standards by subjecting it to different environmental stresses.
Develop custom automation tools to control the latest traffic generators.  Develop interfaces between the test gear and test scripts using TCL and C/C++.
Qualification of replacements for obsolete components.  Must be able to understand the H/W and how the component works within the system.  
Help debug faulty H/W.

2nd or 3rd year co-op student registered in a recognized Co-Op or Intern Program at a Canadian College or University, in a Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree program              
The ideal candidate has the following qualities:       
Familiarity with General Purpose Test Equipment such as oscilloscopes and various meters.
Understanding of both hardware and software architectural concepts
Familiarity with TCL and C Languages
Linux and Windows PC background
Self-confidence, self-motivation, and a strong work ethic.
Good Problem Solving Skills
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)
Ability to work independently.
