The Johnson & Johnson Law Department is currently recruiting for a Contracting Operations Legal Manager to support J&J’s Supplier Contracting Services organization (“SCS”). The preferred location for this role is New Brunswick, NJ. Another location that this role can be located is Brussels, Belgium. It will report to an Assistant General Counsel.

The Johnson & Johnson Law Department’s Supply Chain & Procurement Legal Team (“SC&P”) supports SCS. SCS is part of our Global Services Procurement function, and one of SC&P’s strategic goals is to help SCS innovate, improve and maintain contracting processes, procedures, systems and technology.
With an eye to such improvements and freeing up attorney time, the Contracting Operations Legal Manager will bring strong project management and problem-solving skills to work with SC&P, other members of the J&J Law Department, SCS and our Procurement and Business stakeholders to increase quality, efficiency and operational effectiveness, and better support J&J’s contracting needs across all Procurement categories in dozens of countries around the world.
The Contracting Operations Legal Manager will meet these expectations through independent and collaborative analysis, assessment of departmental and company priorities, and by working closely with senior leaders in SC&P, SCS and Procurement, the Contracting Operations Legal Manager will play an integral role in designing, planning, executing, and tracking success of operational improvement projects and other strategic initiatives. Where applicable, the Contracting Operations Legal Manager will aid in the selection and implementation of process, technology, and policy solutions, and liaise with appropriate internal partners in the implementation and ongoing operation of these systems.
The successful candidate will have the ability to perform all or many of the following roles:
Contributing to various process, policy, and technology work streams including efforts to enhance our contract request and authoring tools, work rules, rules engines, templates, and playbooks, other current technology such as iCertis and our International Contracts Database, and participating in exploring new potential offerings and enablers.
Developing and improving knowledge management tools and practices, such as tool kits, process and procedures documents, training materials, policy documents and guidelines.
Partnering with and influencing various J&J stakeholder groups, such as the Law Department, SCS, Privacy, Data Security, and HCC to ensure adoption and implementation of process improvements, policies, procedures and other solutions to improve efficiency and achieve various customer experience objectives and internal quality expectations
Identifying process inefficiencies and areas requiring improvements and/or solutions relating to customer service gaps
Identifying process improvement opportunities, and suggesting new methods to improve client experience and SC&P and SCS productivity.
Designing and executing projects to capture operational improvement value, and/or deliver strategic results.
Identifying, reporting on, and mitigating or escalating project risks.
Defining project success measures and measuring projects against these measures.
Leading change management efforts to ensure that potential impact is realized, including training and communications.
Contributing to definition of system requirements/testing and working with internal groups and
