In this temporary role, you will be challenged to evaluate and interpret crude trading activities within our Supply, Trading, and Optimization (ST&O) division . This is a temporary position for a period of 6 months

You will use your expertise to:


- Analyze and publish the daily risk management exposure reports, profit and loss report, and related reporting requirements for Suncor's North American crude trading activity
- Administer risk governance policies and standards for the trading business
- Operate as the main day-to-day risk function contact person for the crude trading desk team
- Collaborate across our functions to support growth of new business initiatives
- Look for continuous improvement opportunities in processes and systems

Must-haves (minimum requirements):


- Three years of Oil and Gas industry experience
- A University degree, preferably in Business, Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (eg complex formulae, macros etc.)
- Proven social skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills which allows you to build strong, positive relationships
- A high level of intellectual curiosity for understanding commodity compliance, finance, and commerce
- Alignment with our values

Preference for:


- Experience in a crude oil and/or products trading environment
- Experience in a large organization with complex operations and a strong sophisticated control environment
- A professional accounting (CPA, CMA, CGA) or a finance designation (CFA, FRM, ERP)
- Strong knowledge of Power BI, SQL, and VBA
- Knowledge of Energy Trading Risk Management systems (eg Commodity XL, Open Link, Allegro)
- Basic knowledge of risk management concepts and the trading cycle
- Proficiency with analyzing complex sets of data, and the ability to independently problem solve

Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other meaningful information:


- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
- This is a temporary position for a period of 6 months
- You will be situated on the crude oil trading floor in an open concept environment
- Flexibility in work hours are required to support US holiday calendar
