Position Overview
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to be the foundation of our first engineering team in Toronto. Can you build and lead a team of engineers to a shared goal? Can you architect and vet full-stack solutions for user-facing products? Are you excited about the greenfield prospect of building a team and laying the groundwork for future teams? Responsibilities

- Contribute technically to the team. Engineering leads at BuildingConnected act as senior engineers when needed by writing and reviewing code, validating technical plan documents and helping guide technical discussions
- Hire and retain engineers on your team. Focus on servant leadership to help your teammates grow and align their interests with the team’s goals
- Stay flexible and solution minded. Starting a new team will present obstacles and constraints we can’t predict yet. We expect you’ll call out issues, propose solutions, and ask for help as needed
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, empathy, and data-informed decision making on the team


Minimum Qualifications

- 1+ years of management experience
- 4+ years of prior web development experience
- Experience building and hiring a team of developers

- Docker/Heroku/AWS
