In this role, you will be accountable for the ongoing improvement of our Information Technology (IT) infrastructure reliability, efficiency and cost optimization and tasked to materially improve our IT operations, in alignment with Digital and Enterprise Technical (D&ET) goals.

You will use your expertise to:

- Provide technical direction in the development of operations strategy, particularly as is relates to strategic infrastructure decisions or impacts to optimizing infrastructure operations
- Oversee a team of technical specialists and discipline specific subject matter experts providing optimization solutions, continuous improvement, and technology planning in support of global infrastructure operations across Suncor
- Deliver automation and orchestration to vastly improve efficiency of our IT operations to support strategic outcomes based on agreed quality measures, reliability metrics, service levels, user satisfaction, and continuous improvement goals
- Collaborate with various D&ET teams to provide technical direction in the development of operations strategy, particularly as is relates to strategic infrastructure decisions or impacts to optimizing infrastructure operations
- Develop and maintain infrastructure specific policy and processes, effectiveness monitoring and continuous improvement
- Ensure critical infrastructure meets business resiliency requirements and our teams are ready and capable to participate in recovery activities

We'd like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

- Eight years of infrastructure operations experience
- Five years of experience leading optimization initiatives
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar diploma from a technical college
- Senior level expertise in IT infrastructure technologies, management systems and reliability
- Strong experience in IT Infrastructure automation and orchestration (DevNet, Infra as code)
- Experience in infrastructure solutions design, cloud services and/or project management
- Collaboration and communication skills to bring together teams of technical experts to meet set objectives
- Strong conflict identification and resolution skills
- Ability to work well with various sizes of highly focused and geographically dispersed teams
- Alignment with our values

Preference for:

- Experience working in the Oil and Gas industry
- An ITIL certification

Where you'll be working, your work schedule, and other important information:

- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
- This role is on call 24/7 to support critical infrastructure and ensure service level commitments are achieved
