Contributes to the overall success of the Credit Cards and Unsecure Lending Canadian Banking in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Responsibility for Cobrand segment product offering including but not limited to:

a. Program Management

i. Customer escalations

ii.Internal and external communications - develop tactic and gain buy in to drive card channel acquisition and engagement resulting in improvements to the portfolio in terms of loyalty, revenue and profitability.

iii. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Implement and execute day business controls to meet obligations with respect to risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk.

b. Partner Management

i. Integrate card specific training, including features and benefits, into partner personnel onboarding training and conduct periodic ongoing training for associates and field leadership.

ii. Disseminate key requirements and best practices for presenting and selling credit at point of sale and other opportunities in partner channels.

iii. Ensure partner staff is provided with tools, materials and information needed to build card program awareness among customers.

iv. Ensure partner channel implementation, monitoring and compliance of regulatory sales requirements

c. Portfolio Management

i.Contribute to the product strategy and profitability by implementing new products and programs and enhancing existing programs.

ii.Employ financial, market, and industry analyses in drawing conclusions and developing portfolio/product/program recommendations.

iii.Contribute to the development and deliver new programs from concept to execution including the preparation of supporting business cases, documents, presentations and project plans.

iv.Develop and execute the communication strategy, with continual adjustments and improvements as needed.

Facilitate end-to-end execution of product/marketing campaigns with partner networks/channels

a. Manage and support project plans for implementing initiatives. Identify milestones, timing and recommend resources required to complete campaigns

b. Determine where gaps may exist with respect to product/service/process/sales-tool needs and facilitate implementing solutions.

c. Anticipate issues/obstacles which could impeded successful card sales in partner channels and proactively take appropriate action to mitigate operating risk.

Drive the creation of portfolio and sales channel performance reporting

a.Drive post-analysis reporting and measurement of initiative results with Finance and Analytics

b.Analyze and develop recommendations for improvements and enhanced efficiencies for future portfolio campaigns/programs/initiatives.

Manage product portfolio activities including overall P&L responsibility, managing product features and working with marketing and acquisition to determine acquisition and retention offers, budgets and campaigns

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Education and Other Requirements:

- Bilingual – English and French written and verbal

- Undergraduate degree (or equivalent diploma even) required

- MBA (or equivalent) an asset

- Detailed understanding of credit card business or relevant experience

- Strong financial analysis skills

- Excellent written and oral communication skills, especially delivering strong business cases and presentations
