Description

LOCATION: Calgary, Alberta (CA-AB)
JOB NUMBER: 32333

Why you should join us: Rail infrastructure provides operational flexibility in a shorter timeframe on existing networks. Tapping into rail and its vast existing network is a viable option to access most parts of North America.

Suncor has used rail for many years as a means to move petroleum products from refineries to distribution terminals and customers. Moving crude by rail is part of our integrated logistics capacity and is complementary to shipping by pipeline.

Suncor ensures that all legal and regulatory requirements are met and all required permits and regulatory approvals are in place in relation to its operations. As part of our commitment to public safety, Suncor uses the newest generation of rail cars and has established an Emergency Response Assistance Plan for rail transportation throughout Canada.

- Oversee the rail risk management program for our rail team, which includes identifying existing risk and collaborating with internal and external partners to develop a strategy to mitigate or manage new and future risks
- Be our subject matter expert on industry-emerging issues and regulatory requirements
- Provide rail assurance expertise and support for our refineries, terminals, Oil Sands and organizational projects as needed
- Manage and steward our RTMS audit program
- Ensure our rail emergency response assistance plan is current and that we are ready to execute as necessary; work with vendors on training and perform drills as needed

We'd like to review your application if you have…

Must-haves (minimum requirements):

- Eight years of risk management experience in the transportation, oil and gas, refining, or petrochemical sectors
- A completed post-secondary education
- Demonstrated ability for risk management

- Strong team building, communication, non-authoritative, and negotiation skills
- The ability to communicate at various levels, both internally and externally

Preference for:

- Experience in development, evaluation and implementation of risk management programs
- Transportation logistics (rail, trucking, pipeline, or marine) experience
- Experience working with regulators
- Previous experience conducting audits
- In-depth knowledge of legislative requirements and rail industry best practices (eg railroad rules and regulations in both Canada and the U.S., Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), CPPI and WHMIS requirements, emergency response, and product characteristics)
