The Deal Desk is a critical new capability within the U.S Medical Devices organization. The Deal Desk acts as a thought partner and single point of contact to all customer-facing Medical Devices teams, focused on deal-specific structures and financials. The Deal Desk team sits at the intersection of business unit strategy, channel/customer strategy and profitability guidelines and seeks to work with our customer facing teams to build joint value creating deals across U.S. Medical Devices.
The Senior Director, Deal Desk is responsible for the leading and evolving this critical new capability within the MD organization. This role directly leads the contracting engine for the US Medical Device organization. You will be responsible for delivering the financial and operational results, including taking a more holistic view of the levers that affect profitability (including products, pricing, solutions and T&Cs), raising the profitability of the contracts we write, improving the efficiency/ responsiveness of interaction with the field, and making it easier for our customers to do business with us. You will be leading all members of the deal desk to deliver outstanding customer service to the field while at the same time shaping the offering to be consistent with our overall strategy and offerings for like customers. The objectives within the deal desk can vary from being an advisor on strategic partnerships and structuring complex deals to enforcing a narrower set of options.
Develop and implement processes for key process areas, including: Incoming requests (deal versus non-deal related), routing of approved deals to contract execution (with appropriate documentation), negotiation with the field and customer, approval / alternative / escalation / walkaway pathways and timeline expectations, handoffs, and feedback to Contracting Strategy
Close (daily) interaction and collaboration with the leader of the Contract Administration team to improve overall turnaround times/handoffs
Close partnership with the leader of Contract Strategy, related to deal approvals (CPC) and bringing customer insights to inform strategies
Lead the change in conversation from price to value, up level deal discussion to one of Joint Value Creation (economic, multi-dimensional), push to promote more U.S Medical Device deals (versus franchise deals) and be the steward of enterprise value mindset
Better align the offers we submit with the needs of the customer segment (Tier) and the strategies of the business (franchise specific brands)
Educate the Account Management team around key metrics in support of profitable growth, trends, levers, cost to serve, etc.
Drive the realization of performance objectives for each customer segment
Create a culture of innovation and sense of urgency within the deal desk organization
Create systematic performance driven evaluation metrics that allow for constant recalibration of approach and resourcing
Ability to manage and prioritize a large number of requests and stakeholders using fact based data and strong influence skills
Ensure consistency and standardization of approach across regions/tiers for customer groups
Lead collaboration and continuous feedback with Deployment, Field Sales, Contract Strategy and Contract Administration
