The opportunity
EY’s Financial Services Risk Management (FSRM) practice is an advisory unit that provides risk management support to banks, insurers and asset managers. Our team includes individuals who have industry, client and product knowledge as well as quantitative, regulatory, project management and technology professionals. We are seeking a senior to join our team. Along with our team, you'll work togethe
r to coordinate the delivery of risk management, regulatory and business performance services to a variety of clients, including commercial banks, investment banks, broker-dealers, asset managers, insurance and energy trading companies, and other organizations.
Your key responsibilities
The FSRM Senior Consultant will be involved in all aspects of the delivery of financial risk services to advisory and assurance client accounts covering derivatives valuation; market risk’s models’ development and validation and market risk assessment. The Senior Consultant will be responsible for supporting engagement execution, as well as developing and maintaining productive relationships with clients.
Skills and attributes for success
Knowledge of market risk regulatory requirements (Basel II, Basel III) and accounting standards (IAS 39, IFRS 9)
Experience with market risk models and methodologies:  Derivatives instruments (plain vanilla and exotic) valuation (from accounting perspective), market risk model’s development and validation, market risk assessment (VaR, xVA, sensitivity analysis, stress/scenario testing)
Strong communication, presentation and technical writing skills to describe ideas, concepts and issues that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual topics
Self starting attitude, an ability to think out of the box and driven by new challenges
Ability to travel at short notice to serve Canadian clients outside Montreal (expected to be less than 30%)
To qualify for the role you must have
Strong academic background with a master’s degree in Financial Engineering, Finance or Engineering (equivalent education and/or experience may also be considered)
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
A risk management designation such as FRM would be an asset
programming languages such as SAS, R or Matlab.
Experience working in a banking environment with a well-developed risk management culture and infrastructure or comparable experience working as an advisor to financial services companies
Possess the desire and ability to work closely with quantitative and technology professionals on engagements.
