The PLATO team is comprised of engineers, problem solvers, agilists and creatives in roles such as Enterprise Platform Engineering and Architecture, Enterprise Data Services, Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture, Product Engineering, and Product Management. Together, the team provides the platform that enables the Bank to deliver transformative experiences that help our 24 million customers become better off.

The role of the Senior Manager - Cloud operates within the Cloud Engineering team supporting both the Azure and GCP platforms and PLATO products therein. This valuable member of the team will be responsible managing a team of engineers to develop the PLATO products that will be key to the transformation of Scotiabank to a cloud-first organization.
Champion the development of our products to improve the effectiveness of the team. Manage the department including recruitment, retention and staff performance. Build strong working relationship with peers within business lines and partners. Negotiate IT project requirements such as scope, schedule, cost, resources, integration, change, quality, etc Evangelize PLATO cloud products throughout the organization and drive adoption and change Be a progressive thought leader and innovator, while challenging technology norms Promote self-service, scalability and security in cloud development
Knowledge of cloud best practices, product principles and related disciplines Technology savvy with a good understanding of current IT practices, systems development techniques, including automated testing and deployment methodologies, agile software development methodology, experience in google cloud/azure Strong proven technical leader with ability to manage and coach a team of technology experts in a performance oriented culture that is focused on the end customer, continus learning, teamwork and the ability to manage multiple projects and resources concurrently preferably in the financial services industry. Must have good interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills in order to effectively build relationship with business users, strategic technology partners, management and stakeholders. Must be flexible to adapt to a dynamic environment, make quick and sound decisions under pressure
Minimal educational requirements are a bachelors degree in computer science or engineering/mathematics discipline.
