About Our Opportunity As the Senior System Manager (CSO 4), you will provide technical leadership to the infrastructure support team. You will have overall responsibility for the design, development and implementation of mission critical infrastructure projects. You are also responsible to coach, mentor and develop staff.

Being one of the system architects, you will lead the support team to:


- Analyze, clarify and transfer business requirements into technical requirements.
- Architect and implement infrastructure solutions based on the Government's technology, security and architecture standards.
- Configure and troubleshoot operating system, application and network issues.
- Configure websites, applications, servers, and processes to keep them in service.
- Work with IT vendors on server orders.
- Lead/manage infrastructure projects from start to end.
- Configure and troubleshoot Powerschool and TIENet systems.
- Work with other IT groups to meet their technical needs.
- Solve problems and issues reported by business clients.
- Set priorities in cooperation with the manager.
- Meet project deadlines.


About You You have a bachelor's degree in Computer Science plus 5 years related experience in the infrastructure architecture, or graduation from a recognized Information Technology Program plus 5 years and 6 months related experience in the infrastructure architecture. An equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.

Ideally, you must have a proven record and ability to develop, maintain, and support a complex server infrastructure. You will be flexible and adaptable to ever changing priorities and Legacy & new technologies. You should be extensively knowledgeable and highly skilled in Windows, and VMware. You will have experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases. Your knowledge and experience with Powerschool, and TIENet will be considered definite assets.

You must demonstrate a high degree of logical problem-solving ability with well-developed oral and written communication skills. You should have extensive experience in project management and change management and working on ticketing systems. You must also demonstrate that you can lead and contribute to an IT support team and work well with people while working on multiple tasks at the same time.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $2,842.04 - $3,337.95 Bi-Weekly

This is a bargaining unit position initially restricted to current civil service employees represented by the Nova Scotia Government Employees Union (NSGEU).
