General Description of Class
Under general supervision, operates anumber of light and heavy duty vehicles and equipment; performs maintenancefunctions; moves furniture and equipment, directs casual workers on specificproject.
Thefollowing illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and theextent of the responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to thetasks indicated.
Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety offunctions is necessary in successfully fulfilling the requirements of thisposition. The degree to which eachemployee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary accordingto where and when the employee is scheduled to work.
a) drives and operates vans,pick-ups and cars in making collections, or deliveries for the department;
b) moves furniture, heavyequipment, loads furniture and heavy equipment onto trucks and delivers toappropriate destinations in accordance with specific directions andregulations;
c) sets ups furniture andequipment for events as directed;
d) operates variety of lifting devices;
e) works on campus cleaningdetails; collects waste and recyclable materials;
f) maintain records of mileageand fuel used on vehicles;
g) may change tires, makesimple adjustments and clean vehicles as directed;
h) performs standard routinemaintenance on vehicles and equipment; advises on equipment repairs;
i) operates snow maintenance equipment; and
j) other related duties asrequired.
CampusMinimum Requirements for Selection
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Required: Physical ability to perform job activities such as lifting very heavy objects for extended periods, and/or bending, stretching, kneeling or climbing on a daily basis. Possession of a valid Ontario Provincial Driver’s License, Will be required to attain a full ‘G’ License years of related
Assets: Driving and moving experience , possession of a valid Provincial Class “ full ’G’ , , ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written), and provide customer service.
