What are my responsibilities?

Software is an integral part of our solutions, which in turn are integral parts of transportations systems that move and connect people every day. As a Software Designer, you are key to the success of our projects. You architect, design and develop safety critical software for various applications that will be Embedded in complex mobility solutions such as autonomous subways, track-side equipment, on-board communications systems or high-speed trains. You partner with all of Alstom's engineering teams to achieve you mission.

Your responsibilities include:


- Translating needs into software requirements,
- Developing the product architecture and software of Alstom equipment, validating designs,
- Improving structural breakdown and interfaces between components,
- Integrating software components with hardware component,
- Ensuring technical consistency and alignment with other technical functions throughout the development,
- Apply Alstom standard processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Provide technical support to Customer Care and Tender teams
- Apply Alstom standard processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Ensure technical consistency and alignment with other metiers throughout a development
- Provide technical support to Customer Care and Tender teams
- Apply Alstom standard processes and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
- Design conceptual models of products using CAD software
- Accountability for Software Schedule Tracking, Oversight and Reporting for team activities

What do I need to qualify for this job?
This role requires strong technical skills as well as excellent leadership, organizational and communications skills. You will exemplify a collaborative approach to problem solving and demonstrate the ability to lead teams in an agile environment.

Essential qualifications


- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering;
- 8+ years' Experience in the design and development of software modules/applications using C and C++
- Software development in a Linux environment
- Experience Leading Team and working in an Agile development environment
- Development of software specifications (nominal and degraded modes, function, performance, RAMS, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent organizational and configuration management
- Ability to generate, read, and interpret user requirements

Preferred qualifications


- Experience with Embedded systems and reverse engineering;
- Experience with modeling languages (SysML, UML);
- Experience in railroad/transit signaling market (preferable)

- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Access)
Educational Requirements
BSc or MSc in Computer Engineering/Computer Science/Software Engineering
