Purpose of the Job
Manage, perform and ensure the safety assurance activities (operational role) related to safety assurance on key Projects in Canada whatever the solution (IXL, CBTC, PTC, etc) to get final acceptance
Ensure key customer interfaces for safety activities when required (operational role)
Manage some Safety resources (SAMs) localized in Canada in collaboration with other NAM safety managers (Rochester, Melbourne,…)  (management role)
Operation :
Coordinate all Safety Assurance activities on the intended projects.
Perform Safety analysis, manage Hazard Log, review RAM, VI&T, T&C activities from a Safety perspective managing and leading the Program Safety effort e.g.:
Hazard Analysis (PHA, SHA, SSHA)
Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
Fault Tree Analysis
Build the Safety Reports and the Safety Case
Deliver within scope, on time and on budget.
Organize and attend periodic Safety Reviews
Defend Safety Case argumentations in front of Customer or/and internal (Quality, Safety Assessor) and external (ISA) assessors; define and follow-up action plans to close the findings of the Assessor / Customers
Manage the Safety Assurance Engineers (and consultants)  involved on the project / system / product supervising and mentoring Safety Engineer
Perform specific Safety Audit & Safety Assessment tasks on demand
Management :
Manage the workload of Safety Resources and allocate the resources in accordance to needs
Manage/approve QCD commitments for Projects
Develop and Maintain Safety Resources Skills
Deploy Safety Process, Method and Tools in accordance to Central rules and propose improvements based on REX (Return on Experience)
Provide Technical Expertise to Projects for System & Products Cross-Acceptance to assure Customer Safety Acceptance
Review safety issues and support root cause identification and mitigation measures
Review/validate key Safety Analysis in their Domain
Implement the Safety Management Cycle defined centrally by Signaling Safety Director
Consolidate Safety withint the NAM organization
Educational Requirements
Bachelor Engineering degree
Desired knowledge / Experience :
Successful experience in Safety Assurance within different industries
Succesful experience with demanding Customers
Minimum 5 years of experience in the Railway business and especially in Signaling domain.
Experience in Alstom NAM solutions/products is recommended (not mandatory)
Successful experience in management and leadership
