At Nestlé Research Orbe, near Lausanne / Switzerland, we develop new products and processes supporting Nestlé Infant Cereals worldwide. In addition, we also provide technical assistance to our factories around the world.

We are currently looking for a Associate Research Scientist in Infant Cereals that will develop and share the product/process chemistry knowledge/expertise of cereals to accelerate the development of innovative solutions and to create competitive gaps. In this job, you will also scout for new analytical technologies and implement best in class Food Chemistry analytics to enable in depth characterization of cereal based matrices leading to the molecular understanding of product attributes and support, with standardized analytical methods, the development and the industrialization of cereals products driving consumer preference.
Build the knowledge and the expertise needed to link consumer preferences and manufacturing performance to product attributes and process parameters
Apply analytical methods with focus on carbohydrates leading to the molecular understanding of processes and infant cereal product attributes
Work closely with product & process development specialists, laboratory technicians and other Nestlé Research Orbe and R&D functions to master the process from raw material to semi-finished and finished cereal products
Contribute and actively promote knowledge transfer within R&D through participation in internal & external workshops and expert communities and creation of training module
Education and experience
PhD or MSc Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biochemistry or related field.
Experience in R&D or academia with scientific knowledge.
Scientific and technical expertise in advanced analytics used for food product characterization (e.g. liquid chromatographic techniques). Applied analytical skills in biopolymers (carbohydrates, proteins) and enzymology.
Fluent in English, knowledge in French is an advantage
