Drive efficient allocation and resourcing to franchise priorities within Global Medical Affairs Oncology to ensure timely and efficient execution of associated trials in accordance with OMA portfolio goals
Oversight and management of clinical trial budget and execution according to target for Global Medical Affairs trials
Oversight on key milestones, budget and execution for all Oncology Medical Affairs Trials Oncology worldwide
Ensure quality reporting to relevant boards on the progress of all clinical/operational activities at a program level
Core member of the committee responsible for the review and approval of trial budgets for franchises, regions, and countries
Create the clinical operations strategy, drive innovation and adjustments to it and translate into an operational risk management plan by identifying and appropriately escalating trial and program risk
Ensure high quality GMA clinical operational input into program-level Operational Plans, outsourcing strategies, and trial execution plans and ensures a 'fit-for-purpose' operational mindset for GMA/OMA studies
Proactively identify process improvement and drive excellence and innovation in clinical operations and management through process improvement in collaboration with Franchise Heads, Region Heads and worldwide Clinical Operations team
Drive a culture of compliance and adherence to our processes
Create a culture of empowerment, curiosity, inspiration and self-awareness within GMA and OMA to foster high performance in a Matrix environment. Assess needs of the Clinical Operations organization to improve the medical/scientific, operational and budget management capabilities
Sponsor key talents across the organization to ensure business critical roles and talent continuity
Author/reviewer for relevant SOPs
Core member any applicable governance groups representing Clinical Operations
Leader of the Clinical Operations Leadership Team, Member of the OMALT and GMALT
Key partner to relevant functions in GDD to ensure the ONE Novartis spirit across clinical operations activities

Advanced degree or equivalent education/degree in life science/healthcare preferred (PhD/MD preferred)
Fluent English (oral and written)
20 years of pharmaceutical medical affairs/clinical drug development experience
15 years people management, including leadership of managers and management in a Matrix environment. Experience in managing people globally required
Demonstrated leadership and accomplishment in all aspects of conducting global clinical trials and programs
Strong management, interpersonal and problem solving skills
Extensive knowledge of clinical development process, regulatory requirements and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Novartis experience in these areas is preferred
Proven track record in trial operations process improvement(s)
Considerable organizational awareness, including significant experience in Matrix and high pressure environments
Strong knowledge of appropriate therapeutic area preferred.
