We are offering a unique opportunity to join our team in the Roche Innovation Center Basel.
pCMC Process Research is an integral part of pRED’s preclinical CMC department focused on delivering robust, safe and innovative API syntheses suitable for scale-up to satisfy early toxicological and clinical phase I. We partner with Discovery functions by assessing the CMC developability of drug candidates and shaping preclinical CMC development plans in alignment with the overall project strategy. Our team? We have a broad diversity of experts: synthetic, analytical, supply chemists and formulation scientists
In this role:
You lead a chemistry team with 1– 4 associates or scientists. Together with your team, you develop synthetic routes suitable for early toxicological and clinical phase I campaigns. You are accountable for the scientific excellence of the work performed within the team. You enable team members to continuously develop themselves and you foster an environment where collaboration is key
You are pivotal at embedding digital tools, data workflows and lab automation technology within pCMC. You stay abreast of developments and trends pertinent for our organization. You attend relevant conferences, build strong internal and external relationships to maintain a strategic understanding of the process R&D technology environment and recommend priorities
As a pCMC (deputy) Project Leader, you orchestrate all preclinical CMC activities (internal and external) and ensure an efficient project transfer to Chemical Development for Phase I clinical supply
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a committed individual who brings:
PhD in organic synthesis with over 5 years of experience in the small molecule chemical process R&D space. You possess a sound understanding of the drug development process and a deep knowledge of key aspects and scientific methods used to synthesize new drug candidates on multi kilogram scale
Experience in data workflows and/or lab automation tools (in particular high throughput experimentation technologies) is key
Experience with oligonucleotides or peptides chemistry is an asset
Creative thinking. You are curious or passionate about scientific and technical innovation. You can quickly learn and adapt your thinking to complex and evolving environments
Ability to guide the work of others. You can lead and motivate others, as well as prioritize and coordinate their work through to successful outcomes
Strong cross-functional teaming skills: you have an inclusive and collaborative way of interacting. You demonstrate good communication skills that enable you to effectively collaborate within teams (Discovery and Technical Development Teams) and interact across interfaces (Medicinal Chemistry, Chemical Development, Toxicology, DMPK)
Fluency in English; knowledge in German is of advantage
