With patients’ health and well-being depending on the reliable supply of high-quality medicines, effective Product Lifecycle Management of Roche’s portfolio of therapeutic products is crucial. Our organization, Technical Product Management and Network Strategy (TPM), is responsible for delivery of end-to-end product and network strategy to ensure faster supply to more patients. Our leaders sit between development, manufacturing, supply chain and commercial global functions and markets providing a unique view to the full industrialization and commercialization of our portfolio. Through leadership and partnerships, we ensure execution of Roche enterprise supply strategy by developing and managing a portfolio and network view.
We are looking for a Therapy Product Strategy Group Leader to join our team. In this role you are expected to have broad strategic company wide influence and will lead the overall development and execution of product and network strategies related to the commercialization. We are evolving as an organization with a target to increase our business impact across the portfolio including increased speed to market, improved supply resilience and maximizing value as products move through their lifecycle. You are accountable for the Therapy Area Portfolio delivery of our product lifecycle strategies (e.g Oncology, I2O (Immunology, Infectious Diseases & Ophthalmology), Neurology) and expected to understand and align the organization on the business strategies. You will lead a group of therapy aligned Product Strategy Leaders who translate the Therapy areas strategies into supply chain product lifecycle plans.
The position is an enterprise level role connecting across the organization from development, Therapy Area Leads, Lifecycle Leaders, Global Product Strategy (GPS), Pharma Technical (PT) and commercial affiliates; representing the portfolio level position of PT. In this position you are accountable for the prioritization across the portfolio including:
PT Leadership Partner to aligned Therapy Area Leaders. You will have a deep understanding of the Therapy Area strategies, including portfolio management, commercial strategies, business development activities.
Set the Therapy area ambition for the Product Strategy teams
Prioritization/sequencing of strategic initiatives providing the enterprise view in trade-off decisions (e.g. support of new technologies, partnerships)
PT Partner to Pharma Technical Development (PTD) team (representing commercial product strategy voice in Late Stage Technical Development Committee (LSTDC) governance)
Performance management and Talent Development: You will be the leader of leaders and will need coaching and developing Product Strategy Leaders and team members
Resource management: allocation of focus across the team
Creating a performance management tiered accountability process to managing the progress of products moving through their lifecycle minimizing complexity and cost and maximizing value generation
Ensuring the Tiered accountability is effective (Technical Product Team (TPT) team structures, Product Sourcing Boards, and Strategic Summit)
Implementing and managing the effectiveness of the Strategic Summit – focusing the senior leadership (PTLT) on the most critical and cross functional strategic goals within the business
Summarizing and synthesizing all product strategies from each Product Book into a portfolio level vision
Facilitate setting aspirational product lifecycle targets in partnership with commercial, manufacturing and supply chain teams
Effectively ensure the Network Strategy is reflected across Product Strategy Team, balancing the trade-offs are clear and accounted for in decision-making
Systematically bringing external insights, trends and benchmark to stretch performance across the product strategy teams, enhancing the long term performance of the business
Establish and own a Strategic Risks Management: Effectively manage portfolio level end-to-end risk, ensuring the robustness and resiliency of the supply chain
To be successful in this role, you have:
A bachelor’s degree in a scientific/technical field is mandatory. Advanced degrees, including a masters in business administration is preferred.
15+ years of experience in the Bio-pharma industry is required: ideally in a diversity of roles, with a proven track record of delivering challenging results at the network level, while working in a matrix environment.
