At Ubisoft Berlin, we believe User Experience is key not only for our players to enjoy our games but also for our teams to feel better at work and work better. It influences the culture of our studio: not only what we do but also how we do it.
Therefore as a UX specialist, you will help teams to gain insights into UX and consider user's needs and expectations. Importantly, the user could be a player or another developer. As part of the role, you bring your own expertise through reviews and user research in different areas: user interface, learning phases, menu flows, controls, signs and feedback, etc..
You share your knowledge of the player’s behavior to help the development team designing memorable and innovative experiences.
Primary Objectives:
Establish adapted UX approach for the project
Include end-user in all steps of the development
Ensure UX principles are applied to team workflows
Further responsibilities include:
Analyse and identify targeted user audience needs and usages
Benchmark existing games and products to identify common practices
Design elements related to the user’s guidance and understanding
Review, test and iterate on existing design and discuss improvements with the team
Establish the user-research strategy in line with projects constraints and in collaboration with the Gameslab.
Communicate efficiently guidelines, designs, test results, etc. illustrating suggestions with wireframes, flows, mockups, prototypes, etc..
Support the team to include end-user in the decision process

Master or Bachelor degree in cognitive psychology, interaction design or other related education.
For junior profiles, some experience in multimedia field: webdesign, mobile development, HMI user research, etc..
Strong user-centric conception oriented mind-set
Knowledge in cognitive psychology, its impact on HMI design, and user test methodologies
Be forward thinking and anticipate the needs of your project
Self-motivated and organized
Strong communication skills and sense of synthesis
Good English language skills
For Juniors:
Passion for games
For Intermediates:
Passion for games
Experience in the video game industry including 1-2 shipped titles
For Seniors:
Passion for games
Experience in the video game industry including multiple AAA shipped titles
Ability to advocate and to develop User Experience in the studio, mentor and guide teams into user-centric process
Experience with Photoshop and prototyping tools (Axure, InVision, Adobe XD, Sketch, etc.)
Knowledge in Illustrator, After Effect, Indesign or Premiere
Good sense for visual and motion design
Experience in data analysis
