What you’ll be doing...
Planning, design, configuration, implementation, transformation, operation and optimisation of enterprise level data centre networks. This will include remote or on-site:
Advanced Network strategy creation and roadmap development
Advanced Network Infrastructure audit, review, design and systems sizing
Migration planning, risk assessments, impact analysis
Implementation, configuration, testing and transformation
Test plan/strategy development
Pre and post deployment support
Detailed troubleshooting and problem resolution
Performance engineering and optimisation
Knowledge transfer and mentoring
To quickly understand and be able to articulate business impacts of technical decisions and drive solutions to specific business problems through the effective use of technology
Creation and development of documentation, including detailed technical documentation, test documentation and appropriate policies and procedures for assigned projects.
Identify and assess customer requirements for development of advanced data centre network infrastructures and recommend appropriate solutions.
Understanding of IT disaster recovery planning and testing of Advanced Network infrastructures, including design and provisioning of high quality, high availability Advanced Network solutions for data centres – including Software Defined Networking (SDN) architectures and Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) in particular.
Providing technical consulting expertise to customer project teams.
Sharing knowledge and experience through formal and informal knowledge management initiatives
Providing technical leadership in design and administration decisions for advanced network infrastructures, systems and solutions in relation to data centre network design and migration
Ability to perform network assessments and development of assessment deliverables.
Understanding of capacity planning and capacity management
Perform and document network operations processes and procedures including installation and testing of network upgrades, fail over, and configuration documentation
Troubleshoot technical problems and design, recommend and implement long term solutions
Communicate issues clearly to business and technical groups within the company
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
BSc/BEng in Communications, Networks, Computer Science or demonstrable work experience.
Relevant work experience.
Experience with all aspects of router and switch network design, installation and configuration for a large-scale, heterogeneous, Internet service environment with a focus on data network and data centre network design.
Increasing practical experience in systems architecture, network design, delivery and transformation responsibility in Advanced Network Infrastructure.
Experience in a consulting role working on customer sites for prolonged durations and working with the customer at all levels from CIO to end-users.
CCIE, CCNP, Juniper or F5 relevant certifications.
Even better if you have:
IPv6 Forum Gold Certified or equivalent.
CISSP – Engineer or Architect concentration.
Broad range of experiences designing and architecting complex structures and networks.
Proven track record of leading multiple large networking projects.
Thorough knowledge of and in depth experience with LAN and WAN architectures including Ethernet, T1, E1, DS-3, OC-3 & OC-12 circuits.
Knowledge and design/implementation experience of SD-WAN, SDN, SDP, ACI and advanced networking techniques and technologies.
Knowledge and design/implementation experience of IPv4 & IPv6 address schemas, layout and migration techniques.
Experience in network assessment techniques and using the information obtained to develop advanced network solutions including development of SDN, SD-WAN, SPD, ACI IPv6 network engineering solutions and detailed designs of LAN/WAN/Data Center architecture.
Thorough understanding of LAN/WAN/WLAN network and routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, STP, HSRP, VRRP, ACLs, 801.1Q, MPLS, QoS, Multicast.
Capabilities and competency in QoS and flow data - across multiple vendors and manufacturers.
Experienced in: OSPFv3, EIGRPv6, RIPng, MP-BGP, MPLS 6PE & 6VPE, DHCP6.
Experienced in web related protocols such as, HTTP, HTTPS, TCP/IP, IPSEC, and other routing protocols.
Knowledge of transition mechanisms such as: 6RD, 6to6, ISATAP, Teredo, DS-Lite NAT64, NAT464.
Experienced in developing network test cases, test plans and performing
