Ubisoft Barcelona, part of Ubisoft’s international network of production studios, has developed for over 20 years a strong expertise in the production of videogames from a large variety of genres and platforms. During these years, the studio worked on the following franchises: “Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon®”, “Assassin’s Creed®” , “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege” or “Star Trek™: Bridge Crew” on VR…
The team is currently working on the “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Siege” Live Game, Beyond Good & Evil 2, Assassin’s Creed® III Remastered and other unannounced AAA projects.
As a Senior Online Programmer you'll have direct influence over the quality of the game’s online experience and will be entrusted with developing the game’s online features, frameworks, optimizing online performance, and developing custom services deployed to the cloud.
During the game’s development, you commit yourself to answering the most fundamental questions: Will it be easy for the player to connect? Do the servers scale to support hundreds of thousands of concurrent users? Is the experience as seamless as it can be?
As a dependable member of a cohesive online team, you will participate in the design, coding, testing, integration and debugging of the game’s networked and online features. You care about providing our players with the seamless online playground they deserve.
Develop fast, reliable and most importantly, fun online features in collaboration with gameplay and design teams;
Understand existing functions, suggest and develop improvements with the goal of bringing the best online experience to our players;
Collaborate daily with a variety of production and support teams;
Resolve online and network bugs;
Document your work.
Manage workload and time autonomously within the tasks assigned and to deliver to specification and schedule;
Be a representative of Ubisoft Barcelona culture (development of standards, procedures and processes)
An undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering;
3+ years of experience in developing and optimizing C++, C#, GO, Java and Python code;
Experience with services and network optimization;
Experience with Web/http protocols;
Experience developing online features that interact with Xbox Live or Playstation Network is an asset;
Experience in a continuous integration, continuous delivery environment;
Experience as part of a team that has shipped an online game is an asset;
Experience with services like AWS, Docker or Azure, GCloud and micro-services;
Proficiency to communicate with all disciplines and to support and elevate the team in terms of quality and vision of the game;
Passion for videogames and extensive knowledge of different game genres across all platforms;
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken;
Autonomous and proactive attitude;
Problem-solving and open minded attitude.;
Ability to work under pressure;
Flexibility and ability to adapt to change;
Positive attitude and a genuine team player;
