Description of the job
There are stronger and stronger expectations with regard to the aircraft operational performances in terms of operational reliability, availability and maintenance cost because it directly impacts business profitability. Therefore it is essential that Airbus enables and implements these performances in the aircraft design from the earliest in development, and there is an opportunity to achieve this thanks to the ongoing transformation of our engineering processes toward more intensive modelling and simulation.

Tasks & accountabilities
In this frame the thesis aims to investigate appropriate methods and techniques to enable a new approach aiming at projecting the impact of a design on the aircraft operational performances.
The study will include investigation of advanced statistical or probabilistic techniques to be used in both data-driven and knowledge-based methods. It is also part of the thesis to propose innovative approaches
The progress, the effectiveness and maturity of the proposed methods and techniques will have to be demonstrated during regular iterations including intermediate proofs of concept. The thesis will be managed as an agile project.

Required skills
We are looking for a motivated candidate with a strong background in one or more of the following skills, having a hands-on experience on Aeronautical Maintenance Engineering or an affirmed interest in:
- Aircraft maintenance
- Statistical and probabilistic technics
- (formal) Validation and verification
- System Modelling and Computing Science
- MBSE
- English :Negotiation level
- French :Fluent
