Thank you Daniel for your comment and agreeing it is multilayered approach- we can look at a country like Rwanda in Africa (despite DRC issues) and if we consider in 1960's South Korea that was at the same stage as many African countries, it has made strides through nation building and country branding which has been integrated and consistent. And if we talk about rebranding we can refer to a country like Ireland and for nation building we can look at Singapore. It is complex given the historical context, regardless African countries have to shape their narratives based on realities of the past, present and future.Let's continue the discussion as it is an important one. PS: sorry it took sometime to get back to you had intermittent internet acces.

Thank you for an insightful and provocative article. You illuminate several salient points that invite openings for action. Branding provides the default and automatic point of view that colors and shapes what we see and feel. Altering the existing image of Africa requires a shift in context that begins with the willingness to acknowledge everything about the current reality, including who in Africa is benefitting from it, and creating or 'branding' a future informed by and unencumbered by the past. Given your deep subject matter expertise, could you share any good examples you consider that have been successfully we could all learn from?
