    Walking for... Labdoo!

    Labdoo.org - Langeweile unbekannt!

The metaphors have been defined as intended, despite the inconsistency they are easy to remember and use in casual talk and interpreting them otherwise can only be useful if it is for creative purposes or networking.

@Devesh 🐝 Bhatt could I trouble you to add the link to your list post (I made reference to it...but I don't have it bookmarked)...also that was far from a comprehensive list; I'm pretty sure there is an entire hive full of guides, tips, shortcuts, "cheatsheets", etc.

LOOK...I FREELY ADMIT THAT I'M OBVIOUSLY A POOR EXAMPLE...if I had (still would) consult these more often...I could have avoided shooting myself in the foot ...on a daily basis...in public.

That, however has often been (often...not always) a self-defeating personality trait of mine...it is no doubt the reason I became a neuroscientist...it is also what "kills cats". I (and others --we know who we are) have always had the need to learn by doing; "I don't need to ask directions", "I don't need to read the manual", etc.
Anyway, the larger point here is that unless you also have a high pain tolerance --it's NOT EVEN A REQUIREMENT HERE!
FWIW...as we used to say in the old days "RTFM", lol!

I can literally hear the laughter at the fact that this is coming from me (which kind of proves the point).
I appreciate the patience of all who have allowed me to survive thus far.

Okay, enuff...soap box mode off...please resume laughing and/or exploiting all the stuff that I should already know and am clearly clueless about.

#111 @Aleta Curry I don't believe that the term was chosen to be "cute"...I don't believe that nature cares in the least about colloquial use(s) of the term by members of the species "Homo Sapien" (from the ubiquitous Wikipedia) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homo_sapiens

I don't believe that the species homo sapien is favored over any other species by nature.

Anecdotally --I've never seen groups of AKC French Poodles marching in opposition to the Dalmatians because the former feels that the latter are the cause of (insertproblem/grievance list here) in "canine society".

I don't believe that where would be any such things as "French Poodles" OR "Dalmatians" if homo-sapiens didn't insist on breeding them as we (homo sapiens) seem to want to do to everything in sight ...including ourselves.

I believe that using a phrase like "pride in one's cultural/ethnic/religious heritage" instead of the word "breeding" ...

...means that the real (though unsexy and bad for the "Ancestry dot com brand") Phenomena in question is breeding.

The most likely cause of the impending extinction of the homo sapien species (outside of captivity)

will be the biosphere's natural response to our efforts to control our environments, the reputation of our brands, the "stick with our own kind/take pride in our cultural heritage" --colloquialisms for (according to the ubiquitous Wikipedia) inbreeding https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inbreeding

To give without expecting anything in return use to be called generosity. It has nothing to do with the fact that you have a lot to give or not. It has nothing to do with a good feeling felt by the one who gives for this fact. It has to do with the feeling that makes to happen in the person who receives. This implies that when giving, the one who gives has to make sure that what is given will be of some use for the receiver. To give a bicycle to a handicapped would be cruel, not generous.
Social media is just an extension of us, a different way to communicate. If we are not generous in "real life", very unlikely we will be it in social media.

#30 Why I am here @Javier 🐝 beBee? :) Why we are here?
Helping others help themselves, it is less a paradox and is increasingly becoming the golden rule of social media.

"Social media is primarily used in order to find like-minded people ("instant" engagement and mutual fruitful impact). That is the most important and represents the backbone for an eventual successful cooperation of any kind or only for the purpose of a pure joy and happiness. This can hardly be measured by any mathematical or statistical parameters.
A targeted interaction is a crucial one and also a willingness to understand that we are different. Only then we can help and improve each other." - from "Helping Others Help Themselves, Social Media Paradox", LinkedIn long- form post published on October 8, 2014

beBee is helping you. That is the reason why I personally try to engage with all of our active and positive bees.

Simply help people, be human, engage one another. We want to communicate with one another need proof just take a look around watch a couple use sign language, laugh, have fun. Business is about relationships .If you want someone to comment, share, or like your posts, you need to do this for others first without the expectation of the return.

Business is so often regarded as something hard and evil, but only fools operate that way. Business can be such a GOOD thing when you operate righteously!
This reminds me of one of my heroes, the late Sir John Laing, who earned millions, but when he died he only left about £350 GBP. He had given it all away. Years before, he had asked God to be the Senior Partner of his firm, and to that end, he wrote down an agreement. Part of that written agreement with God was that he "would help people to enjoy life". And he prospered and his firm became the top construction firm, certainly in Britain, and possibly beyond.

#29 Then it would be a nightmare for you again (and even more for all the other members too), only this time with a decent fractal troll. Please don't do that Mr No-Muzak :)
"Mr No-Muzak Said Fractal Troll Said" - That's too much, I guess :)

#25 Yea, well now if I could just stop arguing with that trollmudgeon, @Jim Murray, things would be much calmer. Wait, check that. If that were to happen, "He Said He Said" would stop being so much fun. https://www.bebee.com/producer/@friedman-phil/censorship-to-cut-or-not-to-cut-that-is-the-question

@Jim Murray "Yeah, I’m a beBee brand ambassador and part of my role is to help promote beBee. But you know what…my severe allergy to bullshit prevents me from writing anything that is not, at least in my personal experience, true." Couldn't have written it better. So, I didn't. Good advice Jim. Sharing.

#24 Yes @Phil Friedman, it's true! I will try to be more focused and productive. It's probably my fault. Cheers, for a start.

#23 I know that, Milos, and agree. But that is sometimes counter-indicated, at lest to me, by certain ways in which you say things.-- almost certainly my misinterpretation, though. However, I think that you and I demonstrate how it is possible to engage in disagreement while remaining friends and devotees of truth and intellectual growth. Cheers!

#19 The common good is not utopia for me, it is reality based on the confrontation exchange and opinions. It's mutual learning. I'm practicing this skill for years, just as you :)

#19 @Phil Friedman, my friend. We have always had fruitful discussions and I'm not worried regarding disagreements. This represents mutual cooperation and support. Thanks.

#11 @Milos Djukic, my friend, you and I have disagreed about this for a long time and will likely continue to do so.

First, your statement that "Our future "Brave New World", despite some dogmatic principles could be a lot of different place, much better too and full of some glittering prizes for all of us ..." makes me generally uncomfortable. For it strikes me as a typically utopian vision, in which someone is willing to sacrifice individual humanity if the cause of some undefined "greater good".

Beyond that, I do agree with you that "We need self-organizing system in order to be adaptive and sustainable ...". To my mind that self-organization is organic and arises from the constant interplay and adjustments that result from free and open exchange of ideas and opinions -- which includes the tolerance of non-violent, civil disagreement and criticism. When I refer to "aggressive passivity" what I mean is the emerging tendency on social media to insist on the elimination of questioning or dissenting exchange on the basis that all engagement should be sweet and without conflict of any sort. For this is to confuse mutual support and respect with shallow common stroking. Cheers!

#8 @Milos Djukic..You are always going to run into people who will get pissed of at what you have to say, especially of you are trying to speak the truth as you know it. I don't mind these people all that much because criticism is how we learn. The wold is not all peace, love and groovy. The people who learn to roll with that are the ones who, in their own ways are helping to bridge the Great Divide. Thanks for your comments, my friend.
