    Quant finance methods applied to cancer research!
    Paper http://ssrn.com/abstract=2772458 (accepted in Physica A) presents a novel method for extracting cancer signatures by applying statistical risk models from quant finance to cancer genome data, including source code. Resultant cancer signatures have much lower variability (noise). Computational cost is cut by a factor ~10. We find 3 novel cancer signatures, including a liver cancer dominant (96%) and a renal cell carcinoma (70%) signatures.
