#1 It seems other airlines got on time the coming backlash. American Airlines capped the tickets at 99 USD and waived ticket change fees. in Miami. I am currently in Lima, Peru and traveling to Miami via American, will try to get an alternative route.

See...that's just WRONG on every level! They need to get their own fleets out of harm's way so you'd think they'd cut the prices!

@Phillip Hubbell As a trvel writer I fly far too much and often on low cost carriers. When you sell seats cheap ( and the paying public want it cheap) the frills go...simple. Spoke to a senior Jetstar guy one ( Australian low cost carrier) who told me that the gross profit ( not nett) on any given seat is $3.96c . Slim margins, no frills...simple. On short haul flights its really OK or , perhaps , take the train !

This is the best analysis / commentary on flying that I have read. It's funny, and perhaps sad, because it's true, Phillip! I have come to despise flying so much that I would rather spend 24 hours driving than four hours in a plane.

I can remember when flying was fun @Phillip Hubbell. Your post reminds me of an old joke. A man went to the airline check in counter and said "Can you send this bag to Maui, this one to Puerto Rico and this one to Alaska? The agent behind the counter said "Sir, we can't do that!" To which the man replied "Why not, you did it the last time I flew with your airline!" Bah Dum!
