#5 It's called reading between the lines Manjit. I behooves us to read up, understand all ramifications. Governments and especially corporation are terrific at using word games. That is where education becomes important. Someone recently mentioned in a comment the 'dumbing down' of the average American. I saw it in my own daughter's education (she attended public schools). They don't teach people to 'think', they teach them specifics that have no real world application except for low paying jobs. It's why private schools have popped up all over our city. The 'haves' now have multiple options for their children to receive a solid education while our public school students are not taught to think for themselves. Reason, logic, problem solving aren't part of the curriculum.

In the case of the education of girls you mention there is another important skill; culture and adaptation. I see it here in the Southern US which is known for rather one-track thinking. Workers don't know how to 'deal' with different, they have no adaptation skills. Growing up in a military family, moving often, we learned to adapt to change and to different cultures. Those that only know one way of life are open to developing prejudices, sometimes extreme, or as in the suicides; they feel lost and out of touch. That internalizes, making them feel of less value, exhausting them mentally, physically, and hopelessness takes control.

In India one solution used by then Prime Minister Indra Gandhi was enforced sterilization and in China at that time was the One Child per Family rule, both were draconian measures. In recent times there was a natural population reduction in the Indian State of Kerala. It was natural because the measure that caused this phenomena was one focus "educating girls".

The educated girls of Kerala naturally chose to have less children and the education policy led to changes in certain beliefs also. Shashi Tharoor touches on this in this article http://www.scotsman.com/news/opinion/shashi-tharoor-one-solution-to-many-problems-educate-girls-1-2696446 No one in Kerala positioned educating girls as a policy for reducing the birth rate, it was a natural outcome of a focus on education and healthcare policies.

Now that does not mean all outcomes were good because an educated population in Kerala did not have access to appropriate jobs, so fathers traveled to the middle-east to earn money they could send back to their families - but this unnatural form led to a greater number of suicides http://maithrikochin.org/suicides_in_kerala.htm

This does not mean Kerala should stop educating girls, but it highlights that what we think an outcome may be is not always predictable as a social policy - but emerge depending on context. This is the value of contextual intelligence and it is context specific.

We should applaud what works in this world but also realize that what we think is good policy must emerge in practice. Our approach policy making and strategy is what is still medieval - but there are new ways emerging as old ways go. Ironically it is in the passing of people with certain views replaced by people with a new view that often effects greater change. The old worldview simply dies out and is replaced by a new view. The difference is that this process can be more visible now.

#3 During the Black Death of medieval times, much of the workforce was killed off by the disease. The Bourgeoisie class emerged as a result. Once the workforce is depleted, attitudes will change. Women in Italy and Spain are declining to have children because the welfare of those unborn children is a concern. https://www.bebee.com/producer/@joyce-bowen/women-are-declining-to-breed. Had I known feeding my children was to be such a struggle, I certainly would have declined to breed. Society is getting slower in its thinking, and women are picking up the pace.

It does depend on what is being incorporated. If our lives are being incorporated then that is a terrible thing because directorship will then become the new form of dictatorship. If people are incorporating a system that adds value to human existence and human value creation then that is incorporating a 21st Century form of thinking. The problem is of the former is most acute in the United States which has led to a series of Presidents who have done the bidding of dominant special interest who will think nothing of calamity or war or death if it serves their special interest. The US needs to self-correct otherwise the incorporation will fit the world George Orwell warned about and that is the dystopia featured in the series Incorporated.

Instead of heading towards utopian incorporation the United States has for a long time set the general direction towards dystopian incorporation. In the 1960's the activism model for it was a fight against the power - whereas the reality is that no matter what power one defeats a new form of power initially emerges with good intention but quickly morphs into unintended consequences. A 21st Century existence must be one that provides wholly new way of thinking which is adaptive and emergent, such thinking often follows the mindset of the Power of AND. It is time to get people out of silos and special interest and learn to work horizontally because in the world of corporations there are still like-minded leaders to connect with.

#1 "but the rules we installed in the game, at the beginning, have proven to have dire unintended consequences."

I refuse to get caught up in the chief clown's staged circus, because it is a hall of mirrors meant to distract us from the true battle that needs to be waged - against corporate hegemony.

There is nothing inherently evil about capitalism or corporate structure, but the rules we installed in the game, at the beginning, have proven to have dire unintended consequences.

At a fundamental level, corporations are structures meant to serve, we the people, with goods and services that we need and want to enhance our lives and world. But as they stand now, they are legally obligated to put their own profitable survival ahead of any other type of concern.

A recent reveal on LI, from an attorney fighting for a non-c-suite employee sued to non-compete when he departed from his 'employment-at-will' situation, shows how hopelessly oppressed we really are.

We all sign these offers of employment with clauses that, in essence, preclude us from working at the same job, in the same industry. We MUST sign if we intend to collect our paycheck.

But, the corporations dictate the rules that they will only hire people to do the same stuff as they've done before.

So, the person has voluntarily agreed to render themselves unemployable should they depart. Thereby, forcing them to be a burden on society, in some way.

As @Pamela 🐝 Williams highlighted, they've made us all felons, right under our noses.

#4 What causes changes in logo design is the arms race for attention. When billions of dollars are involved and an organization has a brand promise that matches the valuation, then branding is essential. The problem is that we have people who advocate the arms race for attention for EVERYONE. Thus instead of celebrating great brands we are creating an arms race that is brand dilution. We collectively do not have the imagination to envisage an alternative to a branded and mediated society - so we proceed with what seems the ONLY WAY. I celebrate great brands but I deplore the arms race for attention. It is reducing people into cosmetic packages and groups into manageable containers. In order to do justice to great brands we need to rethink Branding and the part we need to rethink is the absurdity of all trying to get attention - that is not great brand it is a branded existence.

Functional, precise, understandable to those who suppress everything for rationality, I.e. curing the worst affected.
The only extension to this is for authority to yield for the organisation, but if it doesn't , the employee should not feel suppressed to yield for the self.
Someone must figure it and/or feel it and start applying.

I love it! as you know I am very passionate about this! wouldn't it be great to find corporate sponsors who would like to host a conference on this topic! I am so excited Sara. I know there are many things I am passionate about - but this really is an area that I love and I sense is so significant in this era of transitioning from our beliefs that the rational is everything to sensing there is much more to being human and creating our world than the rational and logic, which is only one way of perceiving the world. thanks so much for sharing your passion for this area as well - as our passions ignite one another! :)

Too often, humanity (and being human) has been disassociated from our organizations... Thank you Sara for the reminder that ultimately organizations are made up of people. In Christian scriptures, the church is defined as a body... made up of many parts, with different purposes, some hidden and others out in front, but ultimately each piece brings their value to the complete 'whole', working for a purpose larger than any one of the parts can independently accomplish. I think that metaphor has been extended well in your post.

@Sara Jacobovici Can you please tell the whole world what you share with beBee. You should be doing some TED talks on this topic, Is there an e-book ?
This is class from the beginning to the end. One cannot break it down more clearly than what you have . "Through seven figures come sensations for a man - Through these come knowledge or lack of it." This is the best corporate quote of 2017and the way you explain it with quotes is like a mind click to remember.

We often only hear and forget to listen. We do it with the people around us, Managers to their team members, Teacher's to the students , husbands to the wives and vice versa. Don't hear BUT LISTEN and absorb and gain the sense of balance that is needed.

If organisations were to have CEO's like yourself, then employees attrition rate will go down and productivity will go through the roof ! Thank you for an excellent buzz Sara You will be an asset to any organisation.

This buzz is sheer beauty @Sara Jacobovici. I enjoyed reading it immensely. You gave sesses a "business image" by providing great examples supported with great logic, quotes and facts. I believe this ranks among your top buzzes. I find the flow of the buzz so smooth that I blamed myself to pause and select few lines from the buzz that captured my attention. Here they are:
The irony is that our higher cognitive brain depends on information it receives through the sensory system.
If a leader of a company or a team receives information which has been deprived in any way of his visual sense, then the information he passes on will be incomplete
If the Corporate Body is not exposed to a variety of tastes; sweet, spicy, tart, bitter, salty and so on, then everything begins to taste the same. This bland experience prevents growth.
The Corporate Body needs to experience the rough and smooth, the sand and the water, the soft and prickly. What we walk on, sit on, the door we grab when entering the building, the handshakes, the pat on the back.

I haven't read a buzz as influential as this one relating senses to business. You did it beautifully. That I have a mention in your buzz is a source of pride for me. Sharing..
