While much of this is above my pay grade, if I am right your hypothesis is that there is always - especially v.v. creative thought - another path. Exploring alternatives within the greyness of uncertainty is what often produces the most stimulating solutions and indeed the most revolutionary. Your notion that the technological advances allowed through binary activity in fact has limited out ability to think in new ways is interesting. David, if you are stuck with starting, try breaking your story idea down into pieces: Who is involved? When does this take place? What is the final outcome? Understanding these dynamics will give you a better idea of where to start.
